SECTION 1
1.1 Returns
If you change your mind for any reason, we’ll happily accept a return under the following guidelines for an exchange or store credit.
All returns must be made within a 14 day time frame from purchase date. If you think you qualify for a return, please email hello@thefifthlane.com with your order number and reason for return.
Please read below to see if you qualify for a return:
- To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused with original packaging. Items that are not in their original condition can not be exchanged or refunded.
- Only full priced items are eligible for return, all sale or discounted item/s are final and can not be returned
- Custom pieces, workshops, gift cards/vouchers, downloadable software products, flammable liquids or gasses and hygiene products are not eligible for return/refund.
- Earrings and other piercing pieces are unable to be returned for hygiene reasons, so please select your jewelry carefully.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase (order number). Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer, only to the address provided by our customer service team.
Returns must be made within 14 days of in-store purchase or 14 days from delivery on online orders.
1.2 Return Shipping
If merchandise is returned despite this policy, items will be sent back to you at an additional charge. We will not be held responsible for shipping and handling costs for the return item (including packaging). If the item does not reach us safely, The Fifth Lane will not be held responsible. Original shipping charges are non-refundable and charges for returned items are the responsibility of the customer.
All returns should be sent using tracked shipping. Using untracked shipping means that if your item is lost or damaged in transit there is no way for the shipping provider to cover this. Australia Post is an easy option to send your item back to us. We are not liable for any items that are lost or damaged during transit.
The Fifth Lane reserves the right to deny unauthorised returns that do not meet or follow our return policy and guidelines.
1.3 Refunds
We have a strict no refund policy on apparel and jewelry as each piece is made to order. Please read here for our workshop policies. We are happy to exchange pieces or resize at no extra cost provided you meet the requirements detailed below.
- Item/s must be returned in original condition, unworn, unaltered, unwashed and with their tags attached
- Item/s must be returned in original packaging
- Gift Cards/vouchers may not be refunded
- Only full priced items are eligible for a refund, all sale or discounted item/s are final and can not be returned for a refund or store credit
- Custom pieces can not be refunded

Once your item is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment. Please note that refunds may take several days to process so won't show in your account straight away.
1.4 How to request a return/refund
- Contact our Fifth Lane customer service team at hello@thefifthlane.com to request an exchange/refund within 14 days of receiving your order. Please include your full name, order number, reason for return and item/s to be returned
- Once approved, our customer service team will process your refund or exchange. (if applicable)
- Please note: return shipping costs are not covered by The Fifth Lane and will not be included in your return
SECTION 2
2.1 Postage
- ALL orders sent via mail will use tracked postage and can be tracked via the Australia Post website
- Please note we do not offer same day dispatch due to the handmade nature of our pieces.
- General dispatch times vary from 3-5 business days for ready-to-ship items however some items can take longer - please see individual timeframes in product descriptions.
- Made to order items will be shipped in 3-4 weeks from purchase dates
- All orders being returned or exchanged should also be sent using tracked mail.
- Unfortunately any items returned to us by the customer that are lost in the mail as a result of non-tracked mail, will be at the sender's expense. The Fifth lane will not cover any loss or damage fees of items while they are in transit.
- Local orders have the option to pick up from Studio Lane cafe, select this option at checkout.

2.2 Custom fees, Tax & Clearance
All of our sales may incur Duty, Taxes and other charges depending on the import regulations of your country.
As the recipient, you are liable for all import duties, customs and local sales taxes levied by the country you are shipping to. Payment of these is necessary to release your order from customs on arrival. We are unable to advise the amount this may be as order values vary and destination country rules and regulations vary.
In order to ensure the earliest possible delivery of your order, please pay these charges in a timely manner if requested by the postage handler.
SECTION 3
Desk Hire
3.1 Workshop Desk Hire Policies
By making a booking with us, you are confirming that you have read, understood and agree to the policies we have set in place below. We can't wait to see you in store!
- This is not a 1on1 session. During your booking, you will be unassisted, and whilst there will be staff around, we are not able to tutor you. This booking is purely for you to use our space and tools.
- During your session you are expected to treat the space and tools with respect. Any damage to our property will be paid for by the customer.
- We often have metal on site for you to purchase. If you have any specific requests it's best if you email us 2 weeks before your booking so we have time to order some for you. If less notice is given, this may result in the materials not showing in time for your booking.
- You are welcome to bring any of your own materials, tools and metal to use.
- The Fifth Lane does not take responsibility for any injuries or damage to personal property during your session.
3.2 Refunds, Rescheduling and Cancellations
- You will NOT be eligible for a refund if you don't show up or miss your booking without warning. Please make sure if you have a change of plans, you email us in accordance with the policies below.
- A full refund can be issued if you cancel within at least 3 days of your booking.
- If less than 3 days notice is given, a 75% refund can be issued.
- If you need to reschedule your booking, please email us to discuss.
SECTION 4
Workshops
4.1 Cancellations and Rescheduling
To cancel your spot, you will need to contact The Fifth Lane via email.
We have a strict 2 week cancellation policy. If less than 2 weeks notice is given, we will be unable to offer you a full refund. We can offer you a credit to rebook your workshop or a refund of 50%.
Please note that cancellations within 1 week of your class will result in no refund or credit. Tommy runs small, intimate workshops, and it is unlikely that with less than a week's notice we will be able to fill your spot. You are more than welcome to send a friend in your place, just shoot us an email to let us know!
If you would like to rebook your workshop to a different date within the one weeks timeframe, a $50 fee is required to book in to another class. If you are not willing to pay this your ticket will be forfeited.
If your class has been rebooked from your original date, we are unable to provide a refund regardless of the two week refund notice.
If a class is missed, no refund or make-up session can be offered. Please set a reminder and double check dates and times before.
If you are unable to attend your session due to COVID-19, you will be required to show a positive PCR or rapid test.
4.2 Covid-19 Impact
We understand that COVID-19 has been a tough time for everyone. So in the event of having to isolate for COVID-19 reasons, please contact us via phone or email as soon as you can. We will endeavor to find you a new spot in another one of our workshops provided that you are able to show a positive PCR or rapid test.
Please be aware that we are a small family business and we have been hit hard by COVID-19 the last two years, like everyone else. We would appreciate kindness and understanding in all communications!
4.3 Minimums
We require a minimum of 3 bookings in order to run a class. If we do not meet this minimum we may cancel the workshop and offer you a credit to attend a workshop of the same value in future.
4.4 Gold Workshops
If you decide to book a ring making workshop and choose gold as your metal, it is essential that you read this policy before making a purchase.
Due to the ever fluctuating price of gold, we're unable to keep copious amounts of it on hand. This means that we order it specifically for you when you book a gold workshop with us. We need at-least two weeks to order it so that it arrives in time for your booking. Leaving less than two weeks means the metal will likely not arrive in time.
Many people who attend our workshops are beginners. Which is great! You've com to the right place. However this does mean that there are risks involved when choosing gold as your metal. The price point of silver is relatively low and easy to replace compared to gold which costs hundreds of dollars. The Fifth Lane can not replace the metal during a workshop if it is damaged or broken, or the customer fails to make a completed ring.
4.5 Photography/Videography
The Fifth Lane reserves the right to take photographs and video footage during workshops. We intend to use this footage for the purpose of advertising our workshops through various media platforms without payment to students. Please let us know if you do not want to be included in any digital footage.
SECTION 5
5.1 Agreement
By completing your purchase, you are confirming that you have read, understood and agree to our terms and conditions / policies.
5.2 Liability
The Fifth Lane and its employees are not liable or responsible for any injury or and loss or damage to personal possessions at any time.
SECTION 6
Private Classes/Events
6.1 policies
- A 50% deposit of the total amount is required to lock in the date
- The remaining amount is due 1 week prior to the event
- Cancellations made within a week will result in no refund of your deposit, we will do our best to reschedule you to another date. If all parties can not make it to the newly discussed date there will be no refund given.
- Cancellations made with at least 2 weeks notice are eligible for a deposit refund
